Let your hands be Helping Hands!
Helping Hands for South Sudan is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charity based in Los Gatos, California. Our mission is to make education possible for South Sudan's children. Due to the South Sudanese Civil War, many of them are orphans and must live as refugees in large camps where conditions are poor and the opportunity to go to school is almost nonexistent. We provide scholarships, room and board, school supplies, books and uniforms so they may attend school. We believe this gives them the potential for a brighter future. Why are we so passionate about this cause? Because as the founders of this organization, we have walked in their shoes. Read our story.
First Lady Michelle Obama once said, "Education is the one thing people can't take away from you. And it is worth the investment." Our organization wants all children, including those from South Sudan, to have the knowledge and tools to dream of a better way of life and to make it happen. Currently, Helping Hands for South Sudan is helping 522 children attend school!
We improve the lives of refugee children by providing education scholarships and expenses. Many of them are orphans and simply don't have the means to pay for tuition, books, school supplies nor uniforms. With your gift of any amount we're able to fund school expenses including room and board for children who would otherwise receive no education. Our current school partners are Gulu Primary/Secondary School in Uganda and the Juba Integrated Nursery and Primary School in South Sudan.

When you send a child to school you open doors and change his or her life forever.
What's going on in this east African country and why aren't many children able to go to school?
Who are the organizers of this charity and why are we so passionate about helping refugee children?
Girls are an undereducated population in South Sudan. If a family can pick one child to go to school, they tend to choose a son. This leads to more boys going to school than girls. Ironically, there's an African proverb that says, "If you educate a man, you educate an individual. But if you educate a woman, you educate a nation." For these reasons, we will be sending more girls to school than boys this year.
Let your hands be Helping Hands. We welcome donations of any amount, but a gift of $500 sponsors an entire year of school for a child! Or choose from our list of suggestions:
